                                            Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball
        “No Nonsense Parent/Guardian Sportsmanship Participation Agreement”


The purpose of this document is to ensure that all parents/guardians of youth participants involved in the Virginia Association
AAU Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Program are made aware of and are participants of the Association’s “No Nonsense to
Violence” involving parents and fans. Each parent/guardian must sign and be aware of the parents’ CODE OF ETHICS. The
Virginia Association AAU Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Program will not tolerate hostile and disruptive outbursts by coaches,
parents, or fans. Failure to observe the parents’ code of ethics could result in forfeiture of your son’s/daughter’s tournament
participation as well as their team’s continued participation.

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child participating in the Virginia Association
AAU Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Program by following this Parents’ Code of Ethics:

I.    I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every
game, or practice.

II.   I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.

III.  I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.

IV.  I will require that my child’s coach be trained in the responsibilities of being an AAU basketball coach and that the coach
upholds the Coaches’ Code of Ethics.

V.   I will support coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable basketball
experience for all.

VI.  I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and will refrain from their
use at AAU youth basketball events.

VII. I will remember that my child’s game of basketball is for youth - not adults.

VIII. I will do my very best to make the sport of basketball fun for my child.

IX.   I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or
ability. I will also treat with respect other players, coaches, fans, and officials.

X.    I will help my child enjoy the AAU basketball experience by doing whatever I can to be a respectful fan.

XI.  As a parent and fan I will not harass, abuse, disrespect, or cause a disturbance against an opposing coach, player, or
official. I will remain committed to the AAU Code of “Sports to all Forever”.
